The Sarasota County Medical Society, established in 1924, is a professional membership organization that has grown from 12 to nearly 600 physicians. Member physicians, including Doctors of Medicine, Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine and Doctors of Podiatric Medicine, whose credentials meet SCMS prerequisites, are dedicated to providing the highest quality of medical care with integrity and compassion. Through all the changes that have taken place in the delivery of health care, SCMS has remained a leader at the local, state and national levels.

As a member of the Federation of Medicine, along with the Florida Medical Association and the American Medical Association, SCMS staff and members routinely meet with its legislators and Congressmen (women) to discuss/educate health care legislation as patient advocates.
